Vin Check is a native app for iPhone and iPad that brings VIN decoding, vehicle specifications, and a searchable car catalog into one place. It requires iOS 18 or later and currently has an English interface.

Start with the VIN

Enter or explicitly paste a 17-character VIN, or use the camera barcode scanner. The app validates the identifier before requesting vehicle data. When the configured decoding service is unavailable, NHTSA vPIC provides basic decoding, with the source shown on the result screen.

Keep useful results

Decoded vehicles are saved to a local history that you can search and delete. Share vehicle details through the system share sheet without retyping them.

Explore the catalog

Browse makes, models, generations, modifications, and technical specifications. A searchable glossary helps explain automotive terminology. Catalog content comes from Firebase and is cached locally; fresh lookups require an internet connection.

Native across iOS versions

SwiftUI navigation, light and dark appearances, Dynamic Type, and accessibility support keep the experience at home on iPhone and iPad. On iOS 26 and later, navigation and controls use native Liquid Glass.

Know what a result means

Basic VIN decoding is not an accident, mileage, ownership, or title-history report. Coverage depends on the data provider. Additional report, photo, rating, and review services are currently unavailable, and purchases are not yet configured for release. Use the available specifications as a starting point, not a substitute for documents or a professional inspection.
